UAE NATIONAL DAY Attractions in Dubai

The world’s longest graffiti scroll


A team of 100 graffiti artists with 30 of them being from the Middle East and 20 Emirati’s, will be the ones attempting to create the world’s longest graffiti scroll. The scroll will be 2,180m long and ought to resemble the UAE’s map and seven emirates. It will also feature highlights from UAE’s history. 

The event will be held on November 29 and 30, from 10am-5pm, at the Jumeirah Beach Park. 

A photo contest at the venue will be giving away prizes worth Dh50,000.


36 hour long football match


A football match intended to be played by 1,620 players from across the UAE, for a duration of  36 hours will be held at the Dubai Police Officers Club. Named as the ‘Spirit of the Union football match’, the game will see the kick-off at 9am on November 28 and will be held until 9pm on November 29.


Fashion exhibition at Wafi

A Middle Eastern and oriental themed shopping arena will be in function at the Khan Murjan in Wafi Mall, until December 1, from 3-11pm. Profound designers namely Eman and Elham Al Falamarzi and Sarah Bint Mohammad will be exhibiting their collections at the venue.

King of Drift

This has got to be the crowning glory of the UAE National Day events. A group of sixteen drivers from UAE, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Mauritius will be seen going head-to-head in order to be crowned ‘King of Drift’. The event is to be held on November 28, 8-10pm, at the Meydan Hotel’s G12 parking. It would be seen under the umbrella of the Dubai Motor Festival.

Hisham Abbas performance at Global Village

The Egyptian pop sensation will be the one performing at the Global Village’s cultural arena from 8-10pm. The performance will be held on November 28.


Dubai Grand Parade

A super car and bike parade will be held on November 28 at 3pm. It will start from the Motor Village at Meydan to Burj Al Arab. Other activities at Meydan include a Guinness world record for the longest selfie relay at 4pm, remote control car drift competition at  3.30pm, light show at 7.30pm, stunt bike performances at 4pm and fireworks show at 8pm.


Parade at Downtown Dubai


A grand parade will take place at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard on November 29, 3-5pm. Participating in the event are schools, government bodies, bikers’ clubs, associations and other organization from the UAE.


Red Bull Car Park Drift Grand Final
Sixteen drivers will go head-to-head to be crowned ‘King of Drift’. Participants hail from UAE, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Mauritius. On November 28, 8-10pm, at Meydan Hotel’s G12 parking, under the umbrella of the Dubai Motor Festival.

Marathon football match
A non-stop football match over 36 hours titled ‘Spirit of the Union football match’ at Dubai Police Officers Club. Kick-off at 9am on November 28, until 9pm November 29. The match will include 1,620 players from across the UAE.

National Pride Art and Culture Exhibition
Activities including art, food, fashion and education, November 29, 11.30am-9pm. Free sessions of meditation and relaxation, poetry reading sessions and live performances. At Barjeel Heritage Guest House, Heritage Village. Free admission.

Hisham Abbas at Global Village
The Egyptian superstar will be performing in Global Village’s cultural arena from 8-10pm on November 28. Global Village entrance fee applies.

Colour Run Dubai
Colour runners will transform the Dubai Autodrome into a rainbow on November 29. Gates open from 7.15am on Saturday and the start chute will open at 8.30am. Go to thecolorrun.ae/Dubai.

Mall of the Emirates
A dedicated exhibition until November 29 demonstrates the UAE’s arts culture, an emerging Emirati artist will be conducting a live art workshop, painting a 2.5-metre tribute to the UAE. Plus: Emirati dance performances, costumed marching band, stilt walkers and chances to meet the characters from the popular children’s shows Freej and Khosa Bosa, until December 4.

ARTernatives
A group art exhibition by emerging Emirati artists at Gallery 76, Dubai International Art Centre, until December 13.

UAE National Anthem performance
GEMS students, staff and parents make a world record attempt for a UAE National Anthem performance by over 100 nationalities, at Gems Wellington Academy, Dubai Silicon Oasis, 10am on December 1.

Fortnum & Mason
Activities include face painting, flag-shaped biscuit decoration, brilliant balloon master show and a Fortnum’s UAE pop up photo booth. The 43rd visitor to enter the Downtown Dubai store on December 2 will win a hamper. Call 04-3882627.

The Dubai Mall
Exhibitions include Watani (UAE history), at Star Atrium; the Arabian Pearl Exhibition, on the early days of pearl diving, traditional tools used and clothes worn, from November 28-December 6, at The Souk Atrium; UAE ancient jewellery display, November 27-December 3 at Concourse 1 and 2, Ground Floor. A kids’ parade featuring over 40 Emirati children, all dressed in the UAE flag colours, will march through The Dubai Mall’s ground floor reciting the National Anthem on December 1 and 2 from 4-8pm.

Meydan Hotel
Synchronised laser projection around the grand entrance, 7pm-midnight, December 1-3.

Meydan Beach
A laser show at the JBR Walk, 7pm-midnight, December 1-3.

Dubai Outlet Mall
Extended hours (10 am- midnight) December 1-3 with entertainment including Ayala dancing, Arabic music, a live painting exhibition in UAE flag colours under the theme of “MY UAE” by UAE-based artists on December 2 and a treasure hunt.

Citywalk
Al Ayalla and Al Yolla dancers, LED jugglers from Friday, face painting on and fireworks at 10pm on December 2.
